(WICHITA, Kan.)—
It was 40 years ago today...August 14, 1972, that I worked my first day on the camera crew at KTVH in Hutchinson.
I started at miniumu wage, $1.60 an hour, for 35 hours a week..for a grand total of $56 a week before taxes.
Fortunately, I've gotten a raise since then.
I did leave the station for a few years, before coming back in the news department in 1976.
A lot of changes since then....18 news directors, 7 different owners.
Thanks to all of you who kept watching.
And for those of you who kept hoping I would just go away....let me assure you that in another 40 years, I will be long gone.
