When we mess up, our viewers catch it.

An example happened this week during one of our newscasts.

A word on the monitor behind me was mispelled, and it didn't take long for one of our viewers to notice and call our Answerback line.

She wondered about the use of spell check.

That feature is available on many of the computer systems we use in the newsroom, but unfortunately, not on the one that generates those monitor graphics.

We try to be careful, but once in a while, someone's typing figures gets ahead of their brain, and a mistake hits the air before anyone notices.

We promise to keep trying, if you promise to keep watching.
