One of the people responsible for the success of Eyewitness News has passed away.
Ross Beach was a long time leader in Kansas broadcasting, as well as banking, oil, gas and aviation.
Ross along with partner Bob Schmidt, bought what was then the struggling CBS affiliate KTVH in the early 1980s.
Their leadership and investment help turn it into a decades-long success story.
I was here at the time, and I know personally the difference they made...I could never thank them enough.
Along with changing the call letters to KWCH, Beach and Schmidt also purchased the three western Kansas stations that formed the Kansas Broadcasting System.
Ross and Bob sold the stations and moved on to other adventures in the late 1980s...but trust me, their legacy lives on in much of what you now see on KWCH.
Many thanks, Ross.
Roger
