This is a big week for us at KWCH and specifically for Eyewitness News Executive Producer Christina Karaoli-Taylor.

The native of Cyprus becomes a U-S citizen as of Friday, November 19.

Christina's path to citizenshiphas encompassed 18 years of living in Kansas, five years of study at Wichita State, 13 years living and working under the threat of losing her status and being deported, and one marriage to another of our valued newsroom employees.(not saying it's a fake marriage for legal reasons....I think she actually likes the guy!)

You probably know that becoming a naturalized citizen requires more than just making the request.

Christina has been tested, and demonstrates a knowledge of the U-S that would embarass many of us born here.

Congratulations, Christina and welcome to citizenship!

Just as your presence in the newsroom makes Eyewitness News a better organization, your new status will make the United States a better country.

We're proud of you.
