Boeing opened a production facility Tuesday at Boeing Field in Seattle to create refueling parts for U.S. Air Force tankers, the company said in a statement.
The facility will produce booms, which are used to refuel planes that are in flight, for the Air Force's KC-46 tanker aircraft.
Boeing will build 18 KC-46 tankers by 2017 at its Everett factory. Production will begin in 2013.
