Storm Team 12: Severe storms today, more Sunday

Severe weather threat increases this weekend for Kansas and the central Plains. Most of Kansas will wake up to low clouds and even some fog. As the day progresses expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies with thunderstorms rapidly developing by afternoon along the dry line which will be positioned across western Kansas. Some of those storms will be severe with large hail, damaging wind gusts and even a few tornadoes. The storms will weaken Saturday night as they move to the east, however some of the stronger storms will continue to produce large hail.

Man dies during car chase on I-70

A man dies during a chase with highway patrol officers. The Kansas Highway Patrol says it happened just after eight last night on I-70. The driver was heading eastbound in Dickinson County when the car left the roadway...and hit a cement drain. The driver died at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
