I take exception to your last sentence in The Sun's editorial on the fiscal cliff resolution that it "sets the stage for more Republican gamesmanship..." ("Trouble ahead," Jan. 2).
President Barack Obama has been hammering on taxing the successful (which puts a small dent in the deficit and debt) while ignoring the real problem — out-of-control spending (including what took place during President George W. Bush's tenure). President Obama has ignored all the recommendations of the Bowles-Simpson commission and has not proposed a balanced budget since he was elected, nor a path toward one.
The United States is in trouble. Ask any economist what will happen when interest rates go up and inflation hits — it won't be pretty. All 536 elected politicians/campaigners in D.C. should be recalled before we go over the "real fiscal cliff."
