(WICHITA, Kan.)—
After winning the race for State Senate, Michael O'Donnell says he will step down from the Wichita City Council. O'Donnell beat Timothy Snow by 300 votes for the 25h District Senate seat.O'Donnell says he legally can serve as a state senator and a city councilman, but that wouldn't be in the best interest of his district. He plans to step down from the city council on December 31.
He says when he steps down, the city council will appoint his replacement. That person will serve on an interim basis until a new council person for the 4th Council District is elected in the April 2013 election.
