Harvard University is explaining why it secretly searched the emails of 16 deans. The college says it was trying to find out who leaked information about a cheating scandal to the media.
A statement from Harvard says it was concerned private student information was at risk. It says the search was a "very narrow, careful and precise subject line search" and not a search of email content.
