(WICHITA, Kan.)—
Sandy may have been a category 1 hurricane as it hit the U-S, but try telling a couple of pelicans the winds could have been worse.
The two brown pelicans ended up in Rhode Island after they were caught up in the storm's winds.
The birds showed up at different times but wildlife experts now have them living together in a rehab center before they're sent back back south to a bird sanctuary.
Brown pelicans are usually found only as far north as the Carolinas, so this was quite a journey for them. Private donations will pay for their trip. Read more here.
