General Electric recalled 62,000 washing machines Wednesday after hearing multiple reports of a potential safety hazard, the company announced Wednesday.
GE received 19 reports of GE Profile washing machines' washer baskets separating from their lining during the final spin cycle. In 10 of those cases, the basket broke through the machines' top panel, the company said.
The recall affects all GE Profile front load washers with model numbers beginning with WPDH8800, WPDH8900 and WPDH8910, sold from July 2008 to August 2011. Customers are asked to stop using the recalled washers and contact GE at 888-641-9739 for a free repair.
More information can be found on the company's product recall page.
