LOS ANGELES (KTLA) -- Organic grocery chain Fresh & Easy has issued its second recall this year for some of its store brand spinach over fears of a possible bacteria contamination.
The South Bay-based company issued the recall of their 12-ounce bags of Washed Spinach on their website Friday after a random sample test revealed instances of the listeria bacteria, the company said.
No illnesses have been reported.
Products affected by the recall include bags with "enjoy by" dates of Oct. 16 and were sold at stores in Arizona, California and Nevada.
In August, the company recalled bags of its F&E brand organic baby spinach over listeria fears.
Customers are being asked to throw away any bags affected by the recall and will be issued a full refund at any Fresh & Easy store. Customers with questions or concerns can call the Fresh & Easy 24-hour toll free number at 1 (800) 648-8622.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, an uncommon but potentially fatal disease. Symptoms include high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea.
Those with weakened immune systems, pregnant, infants, the elderly and people undergoing chemotherapy are particularly at risk.
