Officials announced a voluntary recall Friday of Peanut Butter Power Chews and Treasure Trove Mix, both sold as bulk items, at seven stores in Florida and the El Segundo location on Sepulveda Boulevard.
No illnesses have been reported, but the company opted to recall the items amid a growing recall by Sunridge Farms, whose peanut butter products have been connected to 30 illnesses in 18 states.
Other brand names included in the voluntary recall are Archer Farms, Earth Balance, Fresh & Easy, Heinen's, Joseph's, Natural Value, Naturally More, Open Nature, Peanut Butter Power, Serious Food, Snaclite Power, Sprouts Farmers Market, Sprout's, Sunland, Trader Joe's and Dogsbutter.
Customers who have purchased any items should discard them and bring their receipt to the store of purchase for a full refund.
Salmonella can be dangerous, with around 400 people dying from salmonella infections each year, the FDA notes.
Symptoms of salmonella include diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever, and they develop within eight to 72 hours of eating the contaminated food.
