2012 in recalls: Trader Joe's, Red Vines, baby seats, coffeemaker
Consumers saw some popular brands hit by recalls this year. Safety worries also bedeviled brands such as Red Vines, Bumbo baby seats, Mr. Coffee brewers and Pfizer birth control pills. Here, a look at some major scares in 2012.

Burn hazards cause recall of more than 600,000 Mr. Coffee brewers
More than 600,000 Mr. Coffee single-cup brewers were recalled after consumers reported 61 burn injuries from spewing steam and coffee grounds. The August recall pulled back the made-in-China products from retailers such as Bed Bath & Beyond, Target and Wal-Mart. Some 520,000 units in the U.S. and 80,700 in Canada, all imported by Jarden Consumer Solutions, were affected.
