Wichita police had been looking for him for about a month. Now, after receiving several tips from news viewers and Facebook friends, investigators have caught the man suspected in several robberies.
Prosecutors charged Muhammad Waliallah eight counts of aggravated robbery and one count of robbery.
Most recently police say he struck at Lamar's Liquor Stop on West Pawnee last Thursday.
Store owner Martha Riggs said she was "relieved" to hear about the arrest. She said since it happened she had been looking at all her customers differently.
"I have probably asked ten people to remove their hoodies and probably ten people to take their hands out of their pockets," Riggs said.
WPD robbery detectives think the same man held up the Food Mart at Lincoln and Governeour twice around Thanksgiving. Also, the D & T store on South Woodlawn and a Walgreen's at Harry & Edgemoor. All together, police are trying to connect him to at least seven robberies.
Riggs keeps a panic alarm on her at all times. And after the second robbery of her career, she has a warning for other would-be thieves.
"We are armed and we are ready. We will watch from this point forward a lot closer," she said.
Detectives are also looking for a second suspect who may have helped commit some of the crimes.
