Wichita Police have solved 23 of the 26 homicide cases in 2011. But detectives won't be satisfied until arrests are made in the other three cases -- and that may not happen without help from the public.
Thursday, members of the WPD homicide and gang units held a news briefing with Crime Stoppers to make a public appeal for tips in these unsolved cases:
Anyone with information about these cases is urged to call Crime Stoppers of Wichita/Sedgwick County at (316) 267-2111. Callers always remain anonymous and can be eligible for a reward of up to $1000.
Police said there would have been a fourth case on the list, but it was solved Wednesday night. That case involved the May 7th shooting death of 22 year-old Mario Brown at an after hours parking lot party in the 3100 block of E. 13th. A 19 year-old man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of first degree murder and aggravated battery. Police said he was caught leaving a smoke shop at 6602 E. Harry. There was a brief foot chase before officers tased the man and took him into custody.
