Officials hope doubling the reward money will help garner tips to solve a Wichita Cold Case.

Each week through the end of the year, the Wichita Police Department and Crime Stoppers will focus on a series of unsolved homicides and encourage citizens to provide information about them anonymously to Crime Stoppers. Anyone who provides a tip on any of these crimes that leads to an arrest on those cases will receive $2,000, twice the normal Crime Stoppers reward.

This week, the Wichita Police Department is focusing on the murder of 55-year-old Chris Jones. He was killed in April of 2010.

Police say Jones was inside his apartment in the 2200 block of S. Oliver when someone knocked on the door, then shot Jones several times as soon as he opened the door. Jones was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police have not identified any suspects in the case.

You can contact Crime Stoppers by calling 316-267-2111, by text message by sending their tip to CRIMES (274637) - begin text with TIP217, or on the web at www.wsccs.com.

All ways are anonymous and no one will ever ask the name of the tipster.
