Wichita police are investigating a pair of armed robberies from Wednesday night. They aren't sure if they're connected.
The first robbery was called in at around 6:50 pm. Police say someone went into the Dollar General Store in the 1900 block of E. 13th Street. He pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money. He took the cash and left on foot headed east. It's the same Dollar General where a worker and customer were shot in November.
The clerk described the robber as a black male, 6'3" tall with a medium build. He was wearing a dark-colored ski mask and a dark blue sweatshirt and he was carrying a black handgun.
Less than ten minutes later, the Wal Mart Neighborhood Store in the 4700 block of E. 13th Street was robbed at gunpoint.
Police don't have a suspect description, but the clerk reports someone coming into the store, pointing a handgun and demanding money.
He took the cash and left on foot.
No one was hurt in either robbery.
Police say, because the locations and times were so close - they're investigating whether they are connected.
Anyone who was in the area at the time and noticed anyone acting suspiciously is asked to contact police.
