Wichita police are looking for two men who robbed a man in downtown Wichita...then had a change of heart.
It happened Wednesday at around 10:30 pm. Police tell us a 51-year-old man was walking in the 400 block of N. St. Francis when he was approached by two young men. One of them was armed with a large black semi-automatic handgun.
Police say the first robber, who was armed, demanded the man's wallet and cell phone. The man gave the robbers his wallet, but refused to give him his cell phone. The first robber handed the gun to the second robber and started going through the victim's pockets.
That's when, according to the police report, the second robber recognized the victim as someone he'd served time in prison with.
Police say the robber gave the man's wallet back, shook his hand and apologized before taking off down the street.
The victim then contacted police. Police could not confirm whether the victim and the robber did actually serve time together.
The victim couldn't identify the robbers, but he described them to police.
Suspect 1: Black male, approximately 19 years old, 5'7" tall, 155 lbs, wearing a dark gray T-shirt and blue jeans. He was armed with a large black semi-automatic handgun.
Suspect 2: Black male, approximately 22 years old, 5'7" tall, 155 lbs, wearing a gray hoodie and blue jeans.
