Wichita police are looking for three men who fired shots into a woman's home Monday afternoon. It happened in the 1400 block of E. Tulsa at around 5:10 Monday.
Police say a 36-year-old woman was at home when someone knocked on the door. She answered it and saw three men outside. They asked if a person lived in the home. Police say she didn't know who the person they were asking about was.
The three men left in a gray Nissan Altima or Sentra. The woman was concerned about what happened, so she went outside to get the tag number from the car.
Police say around 15 minutes later, she heard a loud banging on her back door, which was boarded shut because of a previous burglary. She went into the back of the house and grabbed a handgun. She then saw someone was trying to kick the door in...and when that didn't work, the person started firing shots through the door into the house.
The woman was not hit, she went out in the front yard and fired two shots into the air to scare off whoever was out back. She then went to a neighbor's house to call 911.
Police say they found shell casings and evidence of the shots fired into the house.
Police are still trying to sort out the situation. They say she does not know the three men who knocked on the door, but she believes they are the same people who tried to kick in her door.
