A robbery suspect is in jail after leading police on a chase early this morning. It all started around 12:30 Friday morning as police responded to a burglar alarm in the 1300 block of S. Bebe in West Wichita.
911 dispatchers tell our news partners, KFDI, someone driving a vehicle tried running an officer down. The officer fired his gun at the car and the suspect gave chase.
Police chased the man to the 7700 block of N. Rock Road, where he bailed out of his SUV in a field and took off on foot.
Officers chased the man into the field, which was soft from the overnight rain. The man was caught several hours later.
The field was so soft, a Humvee and two patrol cars were left stuck in the mud.
