A 47-year-old Wichita woman is in the hospital after overdosing on pills and getting stunned by a Wichita police officer's stun gun.
It happened in the 1000 block of N. McLean just after 9:00 Sunday evening.
Police say the woman's mother called them after learning that her daughter had taken a lot of prescription medication. When officers arrived, they found the woman holding a sword.
Police tell us the woman told them she tried to overdose on pills, but that didn't work. She indicated that she would not drop the sword and that officers would need to shoot her.
That's when police fired a stun gun at her, causing her to drop the sword.
She was taken to the hospital for treatment of the overdose, but was not seriously hurt.
No officers were injured. No word on whether the woman faces charges.
