(WICHITA, Kan.)—
A former Wichita police officer convicted of sex crimes in uniform will now face trial on charges of molesting two children. Joseph McGill is accused of inappropriately touching a three-month-old girl and a one-year-old girl. The mother of both little girls testified Thursday about a conversation she had with McGill, in which he described sexually abusing the children. McGill stared blankly as Judge Jeff Syrios heard from the state's only witness. "He just wouldn't tell me. I'm not going to tell you what happened but it's very bad you'll hate me forever. It's very bad. I can't believe I did this," the mother of the girls testified. We are not identifying her to protect the identity of the victims.
McGill's attorney asked the witness if she knew of any other evidence to prove the abuse happened, but she said no. McGill pleaded not guilty. His trial is scheduled for July 30th.
Earlier this year, McGill was sentenced to three years probation after admitting to sexual battery against two citizens while working as an officer for the Wichita Police Department.
