Bond has been set for Rooks County Sheriff Randy Axelson, who was arrested last week on probable cause of methamphetamine distribution.
An Ellis County judge set Axelson's bond at $45,000 and he must wear an electronic monitoring bracelet if he bonds out.
According to Ellis County attorney Thomas Drees, Axelson was arrested by agents of the Kansas Bureau of Investigation last Friday. The arrest came after an investigation into the alleged drug distribution conducted by KBI agents, Rooks County Sheriff Deputies, Stockton Police Department Officers and Plainville Police Department officers.
The attorney in Rooks County made an official request for the KBI investigation last Tuesday. Drees was appointed to serve as the special prosecutor regarding the investigation. That's why all of the court proceedings are happening in Ellis County.
Axelson remains in the Ellis County jail. Drees has up to seven days to file formal charges against the Sheriff.
