A Wichita police officer is hit in the eye with shattered glass while making an arrest Tuesday. It happened after a school resource officer saw a 34-year-old man trying to get into West High School.
He was trying to access the school through a locked side door. When the officer confronted the man, he ran off.
Other officers caught the suspect on foot a short time later in the 1000 block of west Irving. As he was being taken into custody, the man was kicking and punching the officers. He also kicked out the back window off a patrol car. The shattered glass hit one of the officers in the eye. The officer went to the hospital, but was treated and released.
The suspect was booked into jail.
