Our three volunteers this week have more in common than they'd like to admit. They all wish their necks looked like they used to years ago!
All three women have agreed to be guinea pigs for the $20 Neckline Slimmer. It's a spring-loaded exercise device that claims to decrease double chins and make your neck smoother and younger-looking. All of that in just two minutes of exercise a day!
Our gals are impressed with the "before" and "after" pictures on the box. The instructions are easy: rest the gadget on the top of your breast bone, put the plunger under your chin and you're ready to go.
There are two kinds of exercises: one where you open and close your mouth, and the other in which you move your whole head up and down.
The company promises a 30-day money back guarantee, so that's how long we make the gals promise to use it.
One month later, and it's time for our own "before" and "after" shots. Just one problem: they don't look like the box.
"You can feel the muscle being worked, but there's no dramatic change," says Gwen. "I was looking forward to 10 years off!"
And her answer is just the same as the other two testers. Despite using it every day, they don't see a change, either. They don't recommend anyone else buy it.
We contacted the company for its response. It says studies show the device works better than using something without resistance. And it says the theory behind it is sound. In addition, the company says it's received very positive comments from customers.
While there's no change to our testers' chins, Mary Ann says maybe we're not looking in the right spot.
"Behind my ears! That's where I felt it," she laughs. So I've probably got really thin areas right back here!"
