Donuts are a great treat –if you buy them. But what comes to mind when you think about making a batch of them at home?
“I don’t want to!” laughs Lois McKee, who used to fry donuts for her kids years ago. “The mess!”

The dough you make looks a lot like pancake batter. And the steps are simple: heat up the Donut Maker, grease with cooking spray and fill the wells . Close the lid and six minutes later you have donuts!
Our first batch is a little small, so the donuts don’t brown evenly. However, that doesn’t affect the taste. All three cooks say they are good enough for them---especially considering how easy they are. When they make a second, larger batch Judy is even happier.
“Ooh, these are perfect! It’s fun.”
Since our testers are famous for feeding their fellow church members, many of them may start expecting homemade donuts after Sunday services.
Judy laughs at that. “I’m not making them for the whole congregation!”
