Can a simple product help you save money on your heating bills? The Twin Draft Guard says it can.
The insulation device claims that for just $10 it will keep the heat in and the cold out. The product promises to stop cold air from seeping in under your door. It also says it works on any type of floor.
Part of Extension Agent Denise Dias's job is to help you winterize your home so she was the perfect person to help us test out the Twin Draft Guard.
The instructions say to cut the Styrofoam just a half inch shorter than the door and then slip them into the sleeves.
Dias thought the foam might stick once this was done, but to her surprise it went in smoothly.
The real test though was when the product went under the door.
"I don't feel any more draft," Dias says. "I don't feel any air coming thorough...it does make a big difference it stops the draft."
If there is one downside, Dias says that it's not designed to be attached to the door because it's going to slide away.
But this is just a small problem according to Dias especially for the $10 price tag.
"It would be a good temporary fix..until you could get the equipment and things you need to fix the door right away."
