USD 259 recently changed school boundaries forcing at least 5,000 students, or about one in ten, to move to a new school this year.
Everything is new for students at Isely Elementary. The name of the school hasn't changed, but the location has. The new school was built at 53rd and Woodlawn.
"We are still working on some things in the main hallways, so access to that is a little limited," said Principal Kathy Stybr.
Stybr is expecting 475 students to enroll. Some will move to Isely because of the recent boundary changes, others are like parent Valerie Vazquez.
"We are coming from a parochial school, and switching over to public schools because we live in Bel Aire," Vazquez said.
Vazquez likes that Isely is close to home, plus its brand new. She feels her daughter, Natalia, will adjust well to first grade.
Enrollment has been going pretty smoothly at Isely, but online enrollment has hit a few snags.
The system went down for a little while Monday, the district had it up and running again by afternoon. But parents are warned online enrollment may be a bit slow until all of the kinks can be worked out.
Those are just some of the questions Principal Stybr is facing.
"Just making sure that they understand transportation, our uniform policy with us being a new school," Stybr said.
Bus routes won't be decided until after enrollment, that's when the district will know how many students it has, and where they need to go. Parents will get those details in the mail before school starts
"August 15th is right around the corner," Stybr said. "We are super excited for them to get here."
Lets hope her students feel the same way.
Enrollment for the 2012-13 school year for students in USD 259 begins Monday, July 30 and runs through Friday, August 2.
Parents can go to enroll.usd259.org to print off and complete the required forms so they can return them to their child's school.
Something new this year, all schools will have the same enrollment times. The district hopes it will make it easier and more convenient for parents who enroll multiple students at different schools.

More from USD 259 on the enrollment process:
The Wichita Public Schools’ Magnet, Transportation, Student Records, Nutrition Services and Help Desk offices will remain open during the evening hours to support schools and families while they enroll.
Parents of returning students can also enroll online to complete standard enrollment forms, pay for enrollment fees and school meals, and fill out free and reduced price lunch forms. Parents will need a Parent Assist log on account for their child/children. After completing the common enrollment documents, parents will be linked to their child’s school website to receive school-specific enrollment information, including school supplies and fees. Parents will still be asked to come to their child’s school to receive other information, including schedules and to get their student IDs. If parents do not have a Parent Assist account, they need to contact their child’s school. If parents have questions, they can call the Online Enrollment Information line at 973-4216.
The first day of school for all students is Wednesday, August 15 with a half-day orientation for 6th and 9th grade students on August 14.
