The Wichita Police Department is looking to update two of its policies. They deal with misdemeanor and felony arrests.
Dep. Chief Terri Moses says the department will update the UCC (uniform criminal complaint) & NTA (notice to appear) Procedures / Mandatory Booking Situations and Traffic Arrests and Citations policies.
Moses says the department reviews its policies on an annual basis but also considers other factors in the changes. Some of those current factors include jail booking fees, officer time constraints, and a look at what other agencies are doing. Ultimately, Moses says the goal is to increase efficiency and safety within the department.
Moses says the department is waiting on some new technology to arrive before implementing the updates. She says that could take up to 30 days. At that time, the department will unveil the new changes.
