Eyewitness News visited the City Life Cafe when it opened more than two years ago. The café is part of the Youth for Christ organization. It hires current and former gang members to work at the café and for the organization.

The goal is to make these servers productive citizens in a society scared to give them a second chance. This is all possible thanks to Sedgwick County. It helps fund Youth for Christ. This fiscal year the county will hand over $80,000.

But the organization's leadership is going through some changes. Longtime City Life Director, Dale McMullen, was dismissed last week. When we talked to McMullen Tuesday, he said he wasn't given a reason. However, a spokesperson for the organization said there was a difference in philosophy and McMullen wasn't getting along with staff.

Also, since McMullen's dismissal, Youth for Christ is starting its own investigation of McMullen's tenure.  McMullen says he did not do anything wrong.

In the meantime, the City Life Cafe is still operating.

FactFinder12 checked with local, state, and federal authorities.  We learned they are not investigating this case.
