The Wyandotte Nation has purchased land near the former site of Wild West World in Park City.

It's the first of at least five pieces of land the tribe hopes to buy on the north side of the Sleep Inn (see map).

Chief Billy Friend tells Eyewitness News, the tribe is confident that the Department of Interior will approve its application to put the land into trust for gaming.

"We're looking a phase one with a $30 to $50 million project," says Friend.

Friend says his tribe has had several meeting with the Department of Interior.

"We're very confident the land will be taken into trust very soon."

If the land is put into trust in the next 10 weeks, Chief Friend says ground could be broken on the project as early as February.
