Dandurand Drug hired security to help with parking

Dandurand Drug hired security to help with parking (by Melody Pettit / March 23, 2012)

It was one of the most popular food requests for Wichita, a Chick-fil-A.  And now that Wichitans have the restaurant, they can't seem to get enough.

While it's good business for Chick-fil-A, the crowds are causing issues for other businesses at Central and Rock Road.

Mike Dandurand owns the Pharmacy in Picadilly square. He says the traffic and parking is so bad his customers can't get to his store.

He put up signs to designate specific parking stalls but that didn't work.

So the landlord enlisted the help from the Wichita Police Department

While Dandurand says it's helped his customers are still having problems so he personally sent a recorded message to about five thousand people.

“We told them to be patient while we work something out,” Dandurand said.

Chick-fil-a's owner and operator says it should slow down in the next couple of weeks but Dandurand is still worried.

Dandurand Drugs sent out an automated message to its customers, apologizing about the difficulty many are having accessing the pharmacy.  Since the lines are so long at the restaurant, pharmacy customers can't find parking or even get into the area to pick up their prescriptions.

It's prompted Dandurand Drug to hire extra security to make sure Chick-fil-A customers don't take pharmacy parking spaces.
