Law enforcement agencies are cracking down on drunk driving.  From August 16th through September 3rd, a national campaign called "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" will aim to get impaired drivers off the road.

Wichita Police, along with more than 10,000 other law enforcement agencies across the nation, will target drunk drivers.  During last year's campaign, "Over the Limit, Under Arrest," 52 people were arrested in Sedgwick County for drunk driving.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration released a report this week, it showed, in 2010, alcohol-related deaths accounted for 1 in every 3 deaths on American roadways.  The report also showed, in that same year, there was 1 drunk driving accident for every 51 minutes, and 20 to 24 year olds were the most likely to die in a drunk driving accident.

According to the Wichita Police Department, through June 2012, there have been 879 drunk driving arrests.  That number is down from the 1,161 arrest made through the same time last year.
