An Afghanistan War veteran and a double amputee has a new companion.
Ryan Newell says his previous dog was stolen while he was washing his car in Park City. The dog was later hit by a car along I-135.
A nationally certified animal obedience instructor will help train Newell's dog, a 4-year-old chow-shepherd mix named Arnie, free of charge.
Meantime, police are still looking for a couple that Newell saw moments after his first dog, Red, disappeared on August 3.
In 2010, Newell was arrested for stalking members of the Westboro Baptist Church. Westboro members protest military funerals, claiming soldier deaths are God's punishment for the nation's tolerance of homosexuality.
Newell later plead guilty lesser charges of impersonating an officer. He was sentenced to two years probation.
