HAWTHORNE, Calif. (KTLA) -- A Los Angeles Unified School District teacher is out on bail after being arrested on suspicion of having sex with a 17-year-old student, police officials said.
Police arrested Corey Hogan, 32, after the student, a girl, and her mother reported that the girl and Hogan had sex last September.
Hogan is the band director at Washington Prep High School in Hawthorne.
The girl is on the dance team at Dantzler Prep Charter School in Los Angeles.
Police say he met the girl when the her dance team performed at a Washington High football game.
Hogan gave the girl and other students a ride home, the Los Angeles Times reported.
After Hogan dropped off the other students, the girl allegedly agreed to go to his home.
Police say they also found incriminating text messages between Hogan and the girl.
Police arrested Hogan at George Washington Prep on Monday.
He was released on $100,000 bail Tuesday, according to Los Angeles County booking records.
At least six other LAUSD teachers and employees were arrested in recent weeks on suspicion of sex-related crimes.
Officials said they believe the cases were a result of increased awareness following the high-profile arrest of teacher Mark Berndt in January at Miramonte Elementary School.
