MONTEBELLO (KTLA) -- Montebello Police confirm that a female teacher at Roosevelt High has been arrested for allegedly having sex with two boys while they were her students.
The teacher has been identified as 42-year-old Gabriela Cortez.
She was arrested yesterday and booked at the Montebello City Jail.
One of the alleged victims contacted Montebello police on Feb. 15.
An investigation was launched, and a second alleged victim was identified.
Cortez has been a teacher at Roosevelt High School for 18 years as a Spanish teacher.
The alleged crimes happened in 2008 and 2010 when the victims were students, but both are adults now.
Investigators say the alleged crimes happened at Cortez's home in Montebello.
Cortez is now free on $140,000 bail.
Her first court appearance is set for March 22nd.
In the last three weeks, six LAUSD teachers have been arrested on sexual misconduct charges.
Police say the recent arrests could show a rise in students reporting incidents, not necessarily a spike in abuse.
