This was my first trip back to Greensburg since the May tornado. It's still shocking to see the open space knowing that's where a town used to be. Six months later, there's been a lot of progress. Homes are being constructed and the Kwick Shop/Dillons was packed with people.
The ride to Greensburg took about two hours, it's 118 miles. We were there a couple of days before Thanksgiving and a lot of people were stopping by to see the well. For many, it was their first time back since the tornado hit.
The Big Well is closed but they plan to reopen it sometime soon. Debris still needs to be cleaned out but the well is structurally sound. It's worth a visit if you are in the area.
Also on this trip, we went to Medicine Lodge at took the Gypsum Hills scenic drive. Look for that story December 1st.
