A Wichita woman in a wheelchair was attacked with brass knuckles for her Coach purse, but the attacker did not get away. Instead the woman's boyfriend tackled the man and held him down until police got to the scene.
"This one he hit me with the brass knuckles, he threw me down on this one and started going like this on this one," said victim Keeley McFann.
She doesn't want her face on camera, McFann is showing us the bruises she got from an attack Monday night. She broke both legs in a car accident a few weeks ago and was outside her apartment on north Topeka in her wheelchair when a man came up from behind.
"I get out there and I strolling to this parking lot over here, and all I hear is 'hey girl'", McFann said. "I thought it was my friend, so I turned around."
At first McFann says the man asked her for money. When she said no, he went after her Coach purse.
"My purse was laying right here. (He) tried to snatch my purse, but my body went over on it," McFann said.
She wouldn't let go, and neither would the man.
"I grabbed it, and he tried to grab it back," McFann said. "That's when my man saw the tug of war, he said hey man what's going on? He said mind your own business."
But McFann's boyfriend didn't go away. He tackled the man and held him down until police got there.
"You ain't getting that Coach purse from me," McFann said. "It cost more than your outfit and your momma's."
McFann is glad she got her purse back
Officers say the would-be purse snatcher swallowed a bag of drugs before they could arrest him, so he was admitted to the hospital. The man will face charges once doctors release him.
