A charity event in Old Town raised thousands of dollars for the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society Sunday. It featured an art auction of pieces painted live on site.
The artist, Michael Potts, has a deep passion for the cause.
"The process is, there is really no process," Potts said. "Instead of overwhelming yourself with the entire picture you just kind of narrow your focus down to just one spot. They call that in art class gesture painting."
Potts painted six paintings at the charity event at the Pumphouse. All were auctioned off to raise money for the charity.
"I started the campaign because I lost a brother to cancer last year," Potts said. "He wasn't a brother, but he was my brother. His sister and I are both really active in Leukemia-Lymphoma."
Next month, Potts is starting a 12-city painting tour to raise even more money for cancer research. Click here to see his tour schedule.
