The price of gasoline continues to soar in Wichita. An industry professional calls the $.70/gallon increase from mid-January to now "unprecedented".
Friday, the price for a gallon of regular unleaded was $3.65, that's up a dime from the day before.
Experts blame the sudden spike on the supply slowdown caused by refineries transitioning from winter blend gas to summer blend.
It's also blamed on the continued rise of wholesale and crude oil prices.
"There is no normal anymore in the gasoline business," said Quik Trip spokesman Mike Thornbrugh.
He said the higher price at the pump leaves customers with fewer discretionary dollars and that hurts Quik Trip's sales figures.
"I think it's ridiculous," said Wichitan Lavance Murray as he put $15 into his Cadillac SUV to get him through another day.
Murray said frequent small dollar stops are the best way to control his gasoline spending.
AAA Auto Club expects the nationwide average price to peak between $3.60 and $3.80 sometime in April.
