FIREWORK SHOWS FOR THE 4TH OF JULY WEEKEND
June 30th to July 4th
Make this 4th of July weekend special by attending one of the many firework shows in Wichita and surrounding areas. Events for this year’s Independence Day include music, food, games, competitions, parades, swimming, and of course, fireworks! Make sure to check the dates for each event. This year’s 4th of July falls on a Monday, but there are some firework shows taking place on Saturday and/or Sunday. Come out with your family and friends and soak up the sun, eat tasty food, and watch some amazing fireworks this 4th of July!

Info: This event will be going on all day long and can be appreciated by the whole family. Start your 4th of July with breakfast sponsored by Kiwanis. All the proceeds raised will go towards youth services.
Other 4th of July events in Derby include a parade, Hiland Dairy ice cream social, community band performances, and community choir performances. The day will conclude with a firework show that is set to go off at approximately 9:45 p.m.

4) El Dorado, Kansas
13th Annual 4th of July Celebration

Info: El Dorado’s Independence Day activities will be taking place on Monday. The lineup includes face painting, turtle races, water balloon toss, sand art, and more. There will be free swimming at the municipal pool between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Hot dogs and chips will be served between 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. There will also be a wiffle ball and super toss “The Bean Game” tournaments taking place. Participants in the tournaments must register before Friday, July 1. The firework show will begin at 9:00 p.m.
5) Haysville, Kansas
Sunday, July 3
Time: 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Where: Riggs Park, 700 Sarah Ln., Haysville, KS

Info: The Haysville Youth Firecracker Parade will begin at 6:00 p.m. Children ages 0 to 12 are encouraged to wear costumes and participate in the parade by decorating their bikes, strollers, wagons, etc. The parade will begin and end by the sidewalk along Sarah Lane in Riggs Park. The parade will conclude with a parachute launch, goodie bags, and refreshments.
There will be a free concert by the band Rain, who will play some classic songs from the 60’s and 70’s. Food vendors will also be set up in the park. Dinner and snack options will be available until 10:00 p.m.

Where: Riggs Park, 700 Sarah Ln., Haysville, KS

Info: The Independence Day Parade will begin on Grand Avenue at the old Senior Center and end at the Haysville Middle School. The event begins at 9:00 a.m. and is being sponsored by the Haysville Chamber of Commerce.
Other morning activities include the All-American Fishing Derby, frog races, and raft races at the pool. All of these events are free and prizes will be awarded to winners of the competitions.
The firework show will begin at approximately 9:45 p.m. in Riggs Park. This will be the highlight of the weekend events so you won’t want to miss out on this!

6) Hutchinson, Kansas
HutchFest 2011
Date: Friday, July 1 – Monday, July 4

Info: The HutchFest is a community event that celebrates July 4th with a variety of events throughout Hutchinson. Events occurring every day include crafts, paintball, puppet shows, food eating contests, music, and more. There will also be a car show, family swim night, and talent show. On Monday, the Patriots Parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. and go from Avenue B to 12th Street.

7) Maize, Kansas
City of Maize Firework Show

Info: This event is being presented by volunteers and the City of Maize, Kansas. In case there is rain on Saturday, Sunday July 3rd has been reserved for a rainout day. Bring your lawn chairs and snacks and sit back to enjoy the show.

8) Park City, Kansas
4th of July in Park City

Info: The parade will begin the Independence Day activities, followed by an ice cream social, car show, Kiddos BBQ competition, pet show, and free swimming at the Park City Pool. Concession stands will provide food and beverages, including hamburgers, hot dogs, sloppy joes, pop, water and more. No alcoholic beverages are allowed in the park.
Other fun activities that will be free for children include inflatables, a rock climbing wall, water slide, face painting, train rides, sand art, games and prizes, and more. The day will conclude at 10:00 p.m. with a fireworks show in the park.
