A storm system will slowly slide toward Kansas from the southern Plains Wednesday bringing us a good bet to get wet but temperatures should stay mild enough for us to avoid any ice or snow. Those rain showers should move into southern sections of Kansas by late afternoon. The rain will spread northward through the night. There could be some patchy light freezing rain in the west after midnight on the colder edge of the storm system but no accumulating ice.
Thursday look for early morning rain showers to push-off to the northeast but clouds will linger through most of the day. Right now we expect rainfall totals of 0.25" to 0.50" across southern and eastern Kansas but a few spots could see amounts over 0.50" over far southern and southeast Kansas.
Another storm system will affect our area by Friday night into Saturday morning. The late week storm will bring some patchy light rain changing to light snow or flurries to some. At this time snowfall amounts are expected to stay very light. A very cold Canadian air-mass will descend upon Kansas behind the system causing afternoon highs to plummet into the raw 30s this weekend and into early next week.
