After high temperatures in the 70s across western Kansas yesterday, a blizzard warning remains in effect for those same areas this morning.  A Blizzard Warning is in effect for Colby and Hill City until 10 A.M., while a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for central Kansas through this afternoon.  Travel is discouraged for these areas as gusty north winds to 50-60 m.p.h. will cause blowing and drifting of snow and near zero visibility at times throughout the day.

Snow will continue though out the day, and begin to taper to flurries by afternoon. The heaviest accumulation will occur in northwest and north central Kansas.  Although hard to measure, 3-6" can be expected across central and northwest Kansas, while a light wintry mix with no accumulation for Wichita.  High temperatures today will only reach the 30s with many locations experiencing steady or falling temperatures through the afternoon.  A Wind Advisory and High Wind Warning has been posted for the majority of central and western Kansas through 7 P.M.

Tonight the winter storm will move into Missouri and Iowa with clearing skies across the state.  Winds will also diminish towards morning.  Overnight lows will drop into the teens and lower 20s statewide.

After a chilly start Monday morning, temperatures will rebound into the 40s and 50s by afternoon under sunny skies.  A warming trend is expected the remainder of the week into the weekend.  Highs will reach the 60s and 70s by the end of the week.
