Storm Team 12: Another snow chance looming

Another cold night is ahead as partly to mostly cloudy skies prevail for the southern half of the state.  Overnight lows will be in the single digits for most areas, except for the southwest corner.

Clouds will scatter out on Saturday but with the deep snowpack present, temperatures will only reach the upper 20s to the 30s.  Look for our winds to come around to the south in the afternoon.

Clouds will begin to gather Saturday night and especially on Sunday as the next weather maker heads toward the Plains states.   As it stands right now, we forecast some snow to develop in western Kansas during the morning to early afternoon.  Precipitation should be in the form of rain in Wichita and should start to fall in the very late afternoon or evening.  Sunday night we'll see it change over to snow and there could be some modest accumulation of snow over the state through Monday night.  It is quite possible that a half of foot of snow could fall in places.

Please note that there is a lot of uncertainty with the speed, track and intensity of this system.  Future forecasts will get a better handle on this upcoming system so please stay tuned.
