A former Wichita police officer and Wichita Wild football player was charged with sex crimes against a child Friday. Thirty-one year-old Gregory Nicks was charged with four counts of sexual exploitation of a child and two counts of aggravated indecent liberties.

He was booked into jail Friday. The Maize police chief Matt Jensby tells Eyewitness News that Nicks' wife alerted authorities.

Nicks worked for the police department for about three and a half years.  He was also once a teacher in Lawrence.  He played football at Butler Community College, KU and also for the Wichita Wild.

An acquaintance of Nicks, Luz Coronado was also charged with four counts of sexual exploitation of a child and one count of aggravated indecent liberties Friday.

They are both scheduled to be back in court November 17th.  He's being held on a $250,000 bond.
