A gunman killed two people at a mall near Portland, Oregon late Tuesday afternoon before taking his own life.
A spokesperson for the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office one person was taken to a local hospital in critical condition from the Clackamas Town Center in the Portland suburb of Happy Valley.
Eyewitnesses say the gunman had a rifle and was wearing a camouflage outfit and a mask when he started shooting near the food court around 3:30 p.m. local time (5:30 p.m. Central).
Police spent several hours going through the mall looking for additional victims and shoppers hiding in hallways, bathrooms or stores.
The names of the victims have not been released. Investigators have also not released the name of the shooter or addressed what his motive may have been.
The two-story mall is about 11 miles southeast of downtown Portland.
It was five years ago last week that a gunman killed 8 people before taking his own life at the Westroads Mall in Omaha.
