They completed 23 weeks of basic law enforcement academy training, fourteen of Wichita's newest police officers are ready to hit the streets.
The 2013 Winter Recruit Class of the Wichita Police Department graduated Friday morning.
District Court Judge Joe Kisner swore in the new officers.
The new officers now begin 12 weeks of field training that pairs each new officer with a veteran officer. That paring helps the new officers apply what they learned in the academy to situations in the field.
