A 19-year-old man is dead after crashing his car near 13th Street N. and 135th Street West overnight.

Officials say it appears the driver lost control and the car went airborne at 13th and Forrestview.  The roof of the car struck a tree and the car came to rest south of 13th Street.

Police say a passerby spotted the mangled car around 6:45 a.m..  It's unclear how long it may have been on the side of the dark road.

It was the second deadly crash on that stretch of road in just over a month.  December 27th, two men were killed when the car they were riding in struck a culvert and then smashed into a utility pole.

Neighbors told Eyewitness News car speed on the narrow 40 mph stretch of West 13th.  They also complained the area is poorly lit and frequented by deer.

Investigators with the Wichita Police Department said speed was likely a factor in Monday's crash.
