Wichita police say a woman claims she was robbed at gunpoint by a man in a police uniform.  According to a police report, the incident happened in the 900 block of S. Dorene at around 1:30 Friday morning.

Police say the man, who was in a dark-colored car with lights, pulled her over.  He came up to her window and asked for her to show her ID.

As she was going through her purse looking for ID, she says the man put a gun to her head and robbed her.  He stole her ID, debit cards and a small amount of cash.

She called 911 shortly after it happened. When officers arrived at the scene, they could not find anyone.

Wichita Police say the woman described a dark blue Crown Victoria. WPD doesn't have vehicles matching that description in service currently, Lt. Doug Nolte said.

Nolte said all patrol cruisers are equipped with GPS tracking that investigators may use to determine whether a law enforcement officer was in the area at the time of the alleged incident.

According to Sedgwick County dispatch, the computer system that records that GPS information won't be accessible until after midnight Friday. As of noon Friday, police had not requested access to it, Director Randy Bargdill said.

They want to hear from anyone who may have had similar experiences.
